St Margaret’s operates as one of four placing adoption agencies in the voluntary sector in Scotland. We were founded by the Catholic Church and operate within the context of the Church’s values and beliefs. We continue to enjoy the financial and directive support of the Catholic Church in our role as a professional adoption agency.
Our primary role as an adoption agency is the recruitment and assessment of potential adoptive parents, and the selection, matching, and management of adoption placements. While our link with the Catholic Church provides an opportunity for Catholics to adopt within the framework of their faith, St Margaret’s also recruits potential adopters from persons of diverse cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
We have a highly committed social work team which has an established reputation for excellent practice. We strive to ensure a high level of job satisfaction and we offer a competitive package of benefits and conditions of service.
We are seeking to recruit a highly committed social worker who has at least two years experience of working with children and families, and who can take on responsibility for post adoption support in addition to the recruitment and preparation of adoption applicants, adoption counselling, and positive promotion of the agency. This post is subject to a PVG check. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake a degree of evening work, and there may be occasions when overnight travel is required.
