If you choose to relinquish your child for adoption we will involve you in the process as much as possible. We will consult with you about the type of family you would like your child to have. We will take your religious beliefs into account and we will make every effort to place your child with a family who will bring your child up in your religion. We will discuss a number of different adopters with you and we will take account of your view of each of those families. We will make your views known to the Adoption Panel. If you wish, we can arrange for you to meet the couple who will become your child’s adoptive parents if they are in agreement. We find that this is a good way to dispel any myths or fantasies you may have about them, or they about you. We can discuss opportunities for some form of contact with the adoptive family in years to come. We will facilitate any agreement made through our Letter Box service throughout the child’s childhood.
