At St Margaret's we operate a Letter Box contact arrangement.  This arrangement affords birth parents the opportunity to maintain a degree of contact with their birth child after their adoption.  The adoptive parents must agree to this arrangement.  We will broker an arrangement between you and the adoptive parents to exchange a letter, normally once each year, with the adoptive parents.  The aim is to give you an update of the child's progress and development.  Usually adoptive parents will provide some photographs of the child and it is a good idea to send a photograph of yourself.  Research has shown that such arrangements are beneficial to adoptive children and adoptive parents as well as birth mothers.
