Letter Box Contact

Image: logo We operate a Letter Box contact arrangement. This arrangement affords birth parents the opportunity to maintain a degree of contact with their birth child after their adoption. The adoptive parents must agree to this arrangement. We will broker an arrangement between the birth parent and the adoptive parents to exchange a letter, normally once each year.

The aim is to provide the birth parent with some form of meaningful contact with the life of the child who has been relinquished for adoption, and to assist the adopted child to address issues of identity as they grow through childhood. People often exchange photographs as well as a letter.

The research suggests that such arrangements are beneficial to adoptive children and adoptive parents as well as birth mothers.
